If you’ve never heard anything other than Ten, think of ticketmaster when you hear the name, or laugh because they remind you of alternative rock in high school, now’s your chance to re-frame the band and learn why I’m such a big fan. Bummed there’s no screening in CO, but the DVD is on its way so I’ll just have to host one of my own…
Immagine was shot over 5 shows in Italy and includes live performances and behind the scenes. Rock On.

A film is not done by one person. It’s done by a lot of people. I love this whole collaborative aspect. When it works well, you end up with something better than any of us started out to do.

I know that it’s easier to portray a world that’s filled with cynicism and anger, where problems are solved with violence. That’s titillating. It’s an easy out. What’s a whole lot tougher is to offer alternatives, to present other ways conflicts can be resolved, and to show that you can have a positive impact on the world. To do that, you have to put yourself out on a limb, take chances, and run the risk of being called a do-gooder.

For those that haven’t already seen any of my various social networking profiles, Jim Henson is one of my heroes. I learned a lot about him while studying his various works in college, yes, I got credit for taking a course called Muppet Magic. Anyways, the more I’ve learned and the more of his work I’ve absorbed the more I’ve appreciated his genius and see him as a model of the type of person I’d like to be.
In 2005 a number of Jim’s harder to find personal writings were consolidated into some nice wisdom laden nuggets in: IT’S NOT EASY BEING GREEN: AND OTHER THINGS TO CONSIDER
. I’m going to share a few of my favorites from time to time.
Jim was a master collaborator, not just because he allowed equal time for everyone’s input, but because he had the ability to validate that input and rank its usefulness at the same time. From big projects to individual scenes, Jim presented a goup of carefully selected people with his vision and allowed us all to expand and evolve that vision. He allowed for everyone to be right, but he knew everyone couldn’t be equally right.
Sounds like a pretty integral thinker to me!
